It provides comfort and strength for terminally ill children and their families for RM5 a day.
Many families travel far from home to Kuala Lumpur obtain treatment for their seriously ill children. The costs of
pediatric medical treatment can be costly, and putting up at hotels or motels in the city would add to the
financial and emotional stress. Families also prefer to be as close as possible to their seriously ill children.
This is where the Ronald McDonald House comes in to help these families.
The Ronald McDonald House – PPUKM offers families affordable and comfortable accommodation in the
grounds of the Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PPUKM). Officially launched by YABhg.
Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah binti Haji Mohd Ali, the wife of the former Prime Minister on 21st June 1999, the
facility has 19 bedrooms with attached bathrooms and facilities such as the kitchen-cum-dining area, TV
lounge, children’s play areas and laundry room.
At the lavishly-decorated Ronald McDonald House-PPUKM, families can have an air-conditioned
bedroom for 3 persons, prepare their own meals, relax in the TV lounge, use the available computer
facilities, and most importantly bond and encourage other families who are also in similar situations.
The generosity of volunteers and donors like Nestle Malaysia, MacFood and Havi Logistics ensures the
facility really is “a home away from home”. In return, families either stay at no cost if they are unable to pay,
or are to make a donation of RM5 per day.
