PRESS CONFERENCE OF RMHC – TROPICANA CHARITY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP 2006
Kuala Lumpur, 20 August 2006 - Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities Fund of Malaysia today held a press conference for their upcoming annual RMHC-Tropicana Charity Golf Championship. In the previous year, RMHC-Tropicana Charity Golf Championship attracted a full field of 144 players and RMHC raised a sum of RM169,086.10. The proceeds continue to be channeled towards the aid and support of less fortunate children in Malaysia.
In her speech, Puan Fadillah Yakin, the President of the RMHC Committee announced that, "The charity golf this year will be held on 9 September at Tropicana Golf & Country Club, and this year marks the 13th year of the RMHC annual charity golf championship. A range of programs have been planned, together with Family Activities so golfers can bring along their family and friends."
She explained that, "Education is one of the three areas which RMHC supports and we are pleased to inform that this year’s proceeds from the RMHC-Tropicana Charity Golf Championship will be channeled towards an education aid project which aims to financially assist and support orphans so to facilitate and help them achieve good academic results in their studies.”
Also at the press conference, Ng Su Onn, the Vice-President of the RMHC Committee added, “This is very in line with RMHC’s objective to help make a difference in the lives of the many children in our country, especially the underprivileged children. For the purpose of this education aid project, this year RMHC will begin with two chosen orphanages in Klang Valley as beneficiaries of this project."
RMHC-Tropicana Charity Golf Organising Committee Daniel Chan said, "On behalf of the less fortunate children in Malaysia, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all sponsors who are with us today for their continuous support. This year will be as exciting with an Audi TT for a hole-in-one prize”.
