RMHC CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION 2007Kuala Lumpur, February 10, 2007 – Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities Fund of Malaysia (RMHC) today invited 80 orphans to celebrate a joyous Chinese New Year at Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant, Bangsar Baru. Funtime is when Movin’ with Ronald brought joy and laughter to the children. Welcoming the guests, the opening ceremony unveiled a Chinese New Year Spring Scroll by Puan Fadillah Yakin, RMHC President and Ronald McDonald, McDonald’s Chief Happiness Officer to wish everyone have a prosperity year ahead. A “Yee Sang” ceremony followed for good luck wishes and a prosperous new year. The exciting and colourful celebration was also accompanied by performances by local artiste Karen Kong and Magic Show by magician Sam Kwee which brought joy and laughter to the orphans from Rumah Charis and House of Joy. Treated to a hearty lunch, the children were presented Ribena pastilles by GSK Malaysia, chocolates by Cadbury Confectionery Malaysia Sdn Bhd and toys from McDonald’s, shopping gift vouchers by Mac Food Services Sdn Bhd, , and angpows. A mock cheque amounting to RM 1, 000 was presented by Puan Fadillah Yakin to the guardians of House of Joy and Rumah Charis. Also present, were Mr PK Ong, RMHC Chinese New Year Celebration Organizing Chairman, guardians of the homes, guests, committee members, staff and volunteers of RMHC. Welcoming all present, the President of RMHC, Fadillah Yakin said, “Each year especially during festive seasons, the less fortunate children are not forgotten. We hope the children enjoy a new and fresh Chinese New Year!” For these special children, the highlight of the day was the appearance of God of Prosperity – “Choy San” in the event to give out chocolate gold coins. The children were excited and surrounded “Choy San” for the coins. The Organizing Chairman of the event, Mr. PK Ong said, “Festivities are such a norm throughout the year, where these are often taken for granted by many, therefore we made it a point to draw on the festivities, utilizing these into occasions for RMHC to spread our loves and caring to our society, and it is during these festivities that the less privileged are treated to a healthy variety of merriment.” “We would also like to convey our sincere gratitude to those sponsors like Macfood Services Sdn Bhd, L & N Renovations Sdn Bhd, Jurutera TS, Leco Enterprise and Pro Product Supplies Sdn Bhd.” Mr PK Ong said. |
