Children Laugh Out Loud in RMHC-Tropicana Hari Raya Aidilfitri & Deepavali Celebration 2005
Kuala Lumpur, 10 November 2005 - The Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities Fund of Malaysia or RMHC today celebrated Deepavali and Hari Raya with 90 underprivileged children from Rumah Faith and Rumah Titian Kaseh. The event was held at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort which was the venue and food sponsor for the event. The festive celebration was held to give an opportunity for the children to enjoy the twin festivals like other children.
Hand inai drawing and ketupat weaving activities were held for the children during the event to allow the children to experience something traditional associated with Deepavali and Hari Raya. In addition, the venue was decorated with Kolom and pelita to symbolize both festivals. To add to the festive atmosphere, members of the organizing committee turned up in sarees and other Indian outfits and also Malay traditional costumes. The children were later treated to a Deepavali-Hari Raya Buffet, sponsored by Tropicana Golf & Country Resort.
In her speech, RMHC President Puan Fadillah Yakin said, “We hope this celebration helps to ensure that even the less fortunate children are able to enjoy and celebrate the major festivals in Malaysia just like everybody else. It has been the tradition of RMHC to celebrate every major festival with less fortunate children from various homes so that they get a chance to experience the fun and excitement of these events. ”
The children were entertained by local artiste – ‘Kumpulan A to Z’, and participated in various games specially arranged by ‘Uncle James’ of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort for the children. McDonald’s Chief Happiness Officer, Ronald McDonald, made an appearance and entertained the children on stage with his magic, his songs and dance movements.
