RMHC-CELCOM's Charity Premiere - Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of The Clones - May 11, 2002

Star Wars' fans at the Golden Screen Cinema, Mid Valley Megamall.Kuala Lumpur, 11 May - Celcom, The Official Telecommunications Licensee for Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of The Clones today screened Charity Premiere in aid of The Ronald McDonald Children's Charities Fund of Malaysia (RMHC). This year's Charity Premiere recorded a historical achievement for RMHC, as it achieved the highest number of tickets sold for an RMHC Charity Premiere. All 600 seats were sold out far ahead of the targeted deadline through Celcom's and RMHC's offices. The event is expected to net more than RM 50,000 for RMHC.

The movie was shown simultaneously at three halls at the Golden Screen Cinema, Mid Valley Megamall on May 11th, five days earlier than its worldwide opening date of May 16, 2002. Star Wars fans who bought the tickets became amongst the first to watch the movie in the world. Many of the fans turned up dressed as their favorite Star Wars' characters.

President of RMHC, Fadillah Yakin said, "The proceeds from this Charity Premiere will be channeled towards our funds for the benefit of less fortunate children in Malaysia in the areas of education, health and welfare. We are already looking at building a second Ronald McDonald House (RMH), as well." The first RMH was built on the premises of Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), Cheras, in 1999 with the capacity to accommodate 20 families on time. This Ronald McDonald House was the first to be built in the ASEAN region and is specially built to cater the needs of families whose children suffer from serious illnesses and require regular treatment from the hospital. The House, which cost RM 2 million, has 20 rooms and 6 common rooms.

Star Wars' fans chatting.Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of The Clones" is the latest 20th Century Fox film by Lucas Film. This movie one of the most anticipated movies for this year after its successful First Episode: The Phantom Menace hit the box office in the year 2000. This sequel is using the background of ten years after the First Episode.
