TUNAS WAWASAN Goes Nationwide & Extended to Tertiary Level - April 27, 2001

On April 27th 2001, Ronald McDonald Children's Charities Fund of Malaysia (RMHC) officially launched its scholarship program, "TUNAS WAWASAN" nationwide. This program had started since 1997, whereby RMHC gave scholarships to help students with their annual and monthly schooling expenses which include books, uniforms, feesandpocket money. RMHC also announced that it will extend the program beyond the secondary school level into tertiary level education.

To kick off this extension, two students, Khirul Samad and Noorhida Razali, who had been on the original Tunas Wawasan Program since secondary school, were awarded scholarships to further their studies in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Mara respectively. RMHC will be spending RM800,000 to take these students through university. A signing ceremony for Scholarship Awards to these students were held in conjunction with the launch. |
 The event was launched by Y. Bhg. Dato' Haji Abdul Rafie bin Mahat, Director General of the Ministry of Education. Also present at the event were Tuan Rashdi Ramlan, Director of Schools, Puan Fadillah Mohd. Yakin, RMHC's President and Encik Mohamad Shah bin Tan Sri Abdul Kadir, RMHC's Advisor. Dato' Haji Abdul Rafie applauded RMHC's efforts in helping children in the area of education and hoped that other corporations will come forward. |
